This guide gives you a full men's ring size chart with US, UK and European sizes, two ways to measure at home, and what more than 8,000 of our customers actually ordered.
Men's ring size chart
Sizes are listed from US 7 to US 15, which covers almost every man. European sizes follow the ISO standard, where the size is simply the inside circumference in millimetres. UK sizes above Z are written Z+1, Z+2 and so on; conversions between charts can differ by half a size, so the millimetre columns are the ones to trust.

What ring size do most men wear?
We looked at 8,289 ring orders placed on OTTASILVER between September 2025 and September 2026, almost all of them men's rings. The pattern is clear:
- US 10 is the most common size, chosen in 13.7% of orders. Counting half and quarter steps, the 10 range accounts for 23% of all rings.
- Two thirds of orders fall between US 9 and US 12. Sizes 9, 10, 11 and 12 with their half steps make up 67% of the total.
- The median is US 10.5: half of the rings were smaller, half were larger.
- Nearly four in ten buyers picked a half or quarter size, such as 9.5, 10.25 or 11.5. If your measurement lands between whole sizes, you are in good company.
- Sizes 7 to 8 made up about 16% of orders and sizes 13 to 14 about 15%, so smaller and larger hands are far from rare.
An average is only a starting point. Hands vary a lot, and the only reliable size is the one you measure.
How to measure your ring size at home
Method 1: measure your finger
- Cut a thin strip of paper or use a piece of non-stretchy string.
- Wrap it around the base of the finger where the ring will sit, snug but not tight.
- Mark the point where the ends meet, then lay it flat on a ruler and read the length in millimetres.
- Find that number in the circumference column above. If it falls between two rows, go up to the larger size.
- Check that the strip slides over your knuckle. If it does not, size up until it does.
Method 2: measure a ring you already own
- Pick a ring that fits the same finger well.
- Lay it on a ruler and measure the inside diameter, edge to edge on the inside, in millimetres.
- Match it to the inside diameter column. This is the most accurate home method, because it measures a ring you already know is comfortable.
Our ring size guide has the same conversions laid out side by side, which is handy with a ruler in your other hand.
Tips for an accurate fit
- Measure at the end of the day. Fingers swell slightly through the day and in warm weather, and shrink when cold. An evening measurement at room temperature gives the size you will wear most of the time.
- Mind the knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, the ring has to pass over it. Choose the size that clears the knuckle, even if it sits a little loose at the base.
- Wide bands fit tighter. A band of 8 mm or more covers more of the finger and feels snugger than a slim one of the same size. Many men go up half a size for wide signets and bold bands.
- Measure the hand you will wear it on. Fingers on the dominant hand are often slightly larger.
- Measure two or three times. Take the size that comes up most often.
Sizing for other fingers
Every finger has its own size, so measure the one you plan to wear the ring on. The little finger is usually around two sizes smaller than the ring finger on the same hand, which matters if you are choosing one of our men's pinky rings. Thumbs and index fingers tend to be larger, and a thumb ring often needs a size or more above your ring-finger size.
Between two sizes?
Most of our rings come in half sizes and many in quarter sizes, from US 7 to US 14. If you still sit between two options, go larger for wide bands, big knuckles or warm climates, and smaller for slim bands you want to stay put. Before ordering, it is worth reading our returns and exchanges page so you know your options if the fit is not right.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average ring size for a man?
Most men wear between US 9 and US 12. In our orders the most common size is US 10 and the median is US 10.5.
How should a men's ring fit?
It should slide over the knuckle with slight resistance and sit comfortably at the base without spinning freely. You should be able to take it off with a gentle twist.
Does ring size change over time?
Yes. Weight changes, temperature and simply getting older can all change the size of your fingers, so it is worth re-measuring before buying a new ring even if you know your old size.
How can I find a man's ring size for a gift?
Borrow a ring he already wears on the same finger and measure its inside diameter, or draw around the inside of the ring on paper and measure the circle. If that is not possible, US 10 is the most common choice, but a measured size is always better.
