Every bracelet in this line is strung from 8 mm round stone beads and tied to a month: red agate for January, amethyst for February, blue tiger eye for March, malachite for August, lapis lazuli for September. The bead size stays the same throughout, so what separates one from another is the stone.
That makes the range as much about colour as about dates. Lapis lazuli is a deep blue flecked with pyrite, malachite is banded green, black rutile quartz holds fine dark needles inside clear crystal, and mother of pearl is pale and iridescent. Eight millimetres is the middle weight for a beaded bracelet, clear on the wrist without the bulk of a 10 mm bead.
Malachite and turquoise are soft and porous, roughly four to six on the Mohs scale, and lose their polish if left to soak in sweat or soap. Agate, tiger eye and quartz are harder and take daily wear. Rinse the beads in plain water now and then, dry them, and keep the softer stones off during sport.
