A turquoise setting gives an opaque blue face and a warm, slightly worn look. A hand-carved filigree ring has no stone at all and works through openwork silver. An aqua blue crystal ring is the brightest of the three and throws light in a way the matt stones cannot.
How filigree is worked
Filigree is made from fine silver wire, twisted and then soldered into an open pattern that is later filed and polished flat. Nothing is hollowed out of a solid block, so the ring stays light for its size. The open cells collect dust over time and a soft brush with warm water clears them.
