Opal, coral and pearl need gentler handling
Opal holds water in its structure and can craze in dry heat, while pearl and coral are soft enough to scratch on a hard surface and dislike acids. Keep those three away from perfume and hairspray, store them apart from faceted stones, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth instead of dipping them in silver cleaner.
